Bleddyn

On November 21st 1953, Cardiff Rugby Club faced the might of the New Zealand All Blacks for the fourth time. They were captained by the man known as “The Prince of Centres”: Bleddyn Williams.

For both the club and their legendary captain, victory over the All Blacks had been a long standing ambition that had always remained just out of reach.

Seventy years on, this compelling story is retold by James Stafford and Steve Coombs in comic book form. With artwork by acclaimed comic book artist Gary Erskine (Captain America, Judge Dredd), Bleddyn brings a legendary day in rugby history to life for a new generation.

Featured by BBC Online and a host or rugby outlets, Bleddyn was self-published by Coombs and Stafford in 2023. Its initial run sold out and in 2024 a second run was produced.
